A new year brings with it the opportunity for new beginnings and positive changes. In the spirit of that, URLife and Family Health Plan Insurance TPA (FHPL) will be implementing a five-day work week system along with a Work from Home options for all their employees.
The decision was taken by the managing director of URLife & FHPL, Ms. Upasana Kamineni Konidela, who is actively involved in the field of holistic well-being. This comes in the interest of benefitting the mental health and wellness of employees, and also keeps in mind the maintenance of COVID-19 precaution and safety guidelines. This move will also contribute to increased productivity, as research shows that a 5 day work week can lead to a boost in output. This gesture is also focussed on bringing more women back into the workforce in this pandemic era.
Data from International Labor Organization (ILO) offers accurate insight into the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on gender gaps in economic participation. World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Index 2021 report highlights that, “Early projections from ILO suggest 5% of all employed women lost their jobs, compared with 3.9% of employed men.
The aim is to facilitate better work-life balance with this change. Under the new system, employees will have more productive work hours overall & more time to relax, rejuvenate & recuperate. Quality time with loved ones, pursuing a hobby, recharging, and re-educating oneself in their respective fields over weekends, is the way forward to a successful year personally & professionally. Following this will automatically improve personal wellness & strengthen relationships at the work place and at home.
Sharing her opinion on this, Wellpreneur Upasana quotes, “No matter how iffy the start of 2022 has been for us, I have decided to make mental health and human productivity a priority. The best way to be more resilient and have better work life balance is introducing a 5 day work week for me and my corporate family at FHPL and URLIFE. Whether work from home or at the office, we will now have a 5 working day week only. It will enable higher quality work and output and give us all enough time to relax and spend time with our families and loved ones. I encourage people to think about this and join us in making these small lifestyle changes to make our lives more qualitative and thoughtful.”
