Night care routine to keep your mane strong and healthy

Regardless of texture, colour or style, there is one thing which every one aspires for- hair that looks like it has been treated by a professional at a salon! There are many factors to consider for the healthiest, thickest and shiniest hair. A strict regimen for your hair which includes a good diet, lifestyle and care will contribute to those healthy tresses that look and stay good for a long time.

A daily hair care routine to maintain healthy hair is just as important as your daily skincare routine. It also goes way beyond how often you wash your hair. Sargam Dhawan Bhayana, Director at Tressmart India, a speciality hair product company insists that it’s not just important to look after your hair in the day, but equally important to look after your mane at night too! She claims most people only focus on washing and conditioning and using a few specialty products during the day, but completely skip a night regimen for hair. If you’re ready to get the most out of your hair, here’s a beginners guide on how to build a nightly hair care routine which is sure to keep your hair looking happy.

1. Protect your hair while you sleep with Deep Conditioner:

Conditioning your hair is one of the best ways to repair damaged hair and keep your hair looking silky and healthy. Use a leave-in conditioner or an overnight mask to protect and replenish your mane whilst you snooze. Wash it off in the morning with lukewarm water to lock in moisture and make your hair follicle stronger.

2. Tie your hair at night:

Leaving your hair loose at night can cause serious long term damage to your hair. We toss and turn throughout the night when we sleep and this causes breakage of hair. Loose hair whilst sleeping can also make one lose moisture from the hair making it frizzy and difficult to style in the morning. Make a loose plait or bun before getting into bed and see the effects almost immediately.

3. Use silk:

We highly recommend using silk bedding and pillowcases to help your hair glide even if you’re the most restless sleeper. This step prevents split ends and ensures you wake up with silky hair with minimal frizz. If using silk bedding is not an option, use a silk turban or satin bandana- this should do the job too!

4. Avoid sleeping with wet hair:

Ensure your hair is dry before you get into bed. Wet hair is more prone to breakage at night. If you wash your hair at night make sure you dry it thoroughly before you snooze.

5. Give yourself a scalp massage:

This is a no brainer! Any kind of massage is good for our skin and hair. Gently massaging your hair before you get into bed is not only rejuvenating but can actually stimulate hair growth.

6. Brush your hair:

There is no need do a 100 strokes every night, but using a wide tooth comb to brush from roots to ends gently will help distribute natural oils from your hair throughout the rest of your hair which actually keeps it from being frizzy the next day. Flawless hair doesn’t have to be a chore. Beautify whilst you sleep using these tips- trust us your hair will be forever grateful!
