PocDoc, a Cambridge-based digital health platform, has recently announced partnerships with four major community pharmacy chains in the UK, expanding its reach to over 300 locations. The company, which aims to increase access to cholesterol testing, is now working with Knights Pharmacy Group, Weldricks Pharmacy Group, Greenlight Pharmacy Group, and Lincolnshire Co-op Pharmacy. PocDoc’s goal is to target areas of health inequality and make cholesterol testing more widely available through their digital platform.

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is the leading cause of preventable deaths in the UK, and increased cholesterol testing can help reduce the number of heart attacks and strokes. PocDoc’s app-based technology platform combines proprietary lateral flow tests with cloud-based AI diagnostics to provide an end-to-end digital solution for assessing, diagnosing, and treating major diseases.

The PocDoc app enables a full cardiovascular Health Check pathway, providing lab-grade cholesterol test results in under 10 minutes. The app also collects other relevant health data, such as blood pressure and BMI, and displays the results in a health dashboard that can be easily compared to NHS clinical guidelines.

In addition to expanding its pharmacy partnerships, PocDoc has recently secured two major NHS contracts to increase cholesterol testing access in non-traditional settings, such as at-home, on the high street, and in other community environments. The company has also recently completed a significant investment round led by Forward Partners, MMC Ventures, and Simplyhealth.

Steve Roest, CEO of PocDoc, expressed excitement about the company’s growth in Community Pharmacy, stating, “We strongly believe that Community Pharmacies have a major role to play in delivering a step change increase in access to cardiovascular screening, both in pharmacy and in community settings.”
