Merck, a front-running science and technology company, has announced that it will host a roadshow at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai to kickstart the third edition of the Merck Young Scientist Award 2023. This highly anticipated event underlines Merck’s commitment to fostering scientific innovation and recognizing the trailblazing work of young scientists.

An intriguing development this year is the introduction of a new category focused on Sustainability Research. This addition of green chemistry, renewable/alternate energy, sustainable materials, and manufacturing to the existing Biological and Chemical Sciences categories indicates the rising importance of environmental consciousness in scientific research.

“The inclusion of sustainability reflects our belief that it is a key pillar of scientific research,” said Mr. Dhananjay Singh, Head of Science and Lab Solutions, Merck Life Science. “We aim to create awareness about this crucial theme while continuing to honour talented young scientists across India.”

To qualify for the award, scientists must be associated with a research institute, have less than 10 years of post-Ph.D. research experience, and reside in India. The awards aim to recognize 10 such talents for their contributions to human progress.

Interested candidates can apply till August 16, 2023, and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on November 24, 2023. For more information and to register, visit here.
