Over 500 Visually Impaired Youth to Run in JITO Ahimsa Marathon, Embracing Peace and Non-Violence

A groundbreaking initiative will see more than 500 visually impaired children participating in the IIFL JITO Ahimsa Run, supported by Torrent Group, in Mumbai on April 2nd, 2023. These young competitors, aged 12 and above, come from various specialized schools and blind associations and will participate in different race categories, including 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km events.

JITO Mumbai Zone Chairman, Prithviraj Kothari, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to witness these inspiring young athletes overcoming their physical challenges and promoting peace, empathy, and non-violence. The children have actively engaged in endorsing the run, embodying the event’s core values.

According to Mahendra Jain, Vice Chairman of JITO Mumbai Zone, the overwhelming response from visually impaired children across Maharashtra has reinforced the organization’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity. The IIFL JITO Ahimsa Run unites individuals from all walks of life in their pursuit of peace.

In preparation for the marathon, the organizers will provide training programs for the visually impaired participants. Cash prizes, trophies, medals, and certificates will be awarded to the competitors, and separate areas at the venue will be designated for their reporting and flag-offs, ensuring their safety and security.
