The journey for the athletes kicked off with a torch run and send-off ceremony that occurred on the 8th of June 2023 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. The event was elevated by the presence of distinguished personalities including the Hon’ble Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Mr. Anurag Thakur, Hon’ble Union Minister Ms. Smriti Irani, cricket legend Mr. Yuvraj Singh, and various other eminent individuals. The Special Olympics World Summer Games is the pinnacle of inclusive sports, which aims to foster recognition and inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities. The city of Berlin is gearing up to host 7,000 athletes and unified partners from across 190 delegations. Participants will compete in 26 sports during the Games, scheduled to take place between the 17th and 25th of June 2023.
